I am NOT a number?

Sometimes there's just so much going on that we end up missing out on some events and activities that you'd love to do. Often there is no reason why you can't go by yourself or with a mate.
Two such events are the County Archery Competition and the Scout Cavers Badge.

First up is the archery; this is a county event to be held at the family fun day already in the diary. Organisation has been a bit slow this year so it means the chance of coming away with a medal will be better!
Unfortunately it's on Saturday 27th September so most of us will be at the Bickley camp. If you not then sent Jonathan £4-00 and go bring Boreatton some more medals. (We already have two National archery trophies in the group! Details and booking forms can be found here. CLICK Those of you who have been to the monthly archery practice will know the organisers, Tony Pierce, Jonathan Walton etc.
Your £4 entry fee also gets you into the fun day, so the rest of your family can do scouty stuff too.
You'll have to be good at archery or begging to persuade Jonathan to buy you a tee shirt though!

Second up is the Scout Cavers Badge, If you are 12 years old or above and not frightened of the dark then, Idris Williams, County Caving Adviser and former Boreatton Cub leader is organising the badge for just 12 scouts in Shropshire. It'll be one day shared between theory at Gobowen and Llanymynech Roman Copper mines.
The skull that was found there has now been removed by the police, read HERE but more Roman artifact have been found and CADW are still working in the mine.
It'll then be a weekend in South Wales, where you'll do Porth-yr-Ogof, Bridge cave and Ogof Ffynnon Ddu and hopefully have a tour of the local Cave Rescue Depot. Click for DETAILS
Unfortunately the first day clashes with the National Rifle weekend so myself and Alan won't be around and I can't imagine anybody could persuade Phil to go back in a cave!!!
Here's a report going back to 2007 CLICK and a video of Ogof Ffynnon Ddu.
We'll be in Porth-yr-Ogof this weekend for the Mountain Group Camp so ask us about it next week!!!
