Thinking of Fridays and the start of the new term, I realise that I have to work the first friday, and then we're off to the National Scout Archery Competition on the next friday,, so I wouldn't see you for ages... Therefore our first meeting this term will be on THURSDAY 30 APRIL, same time and place as usual, back to basics...
(actually, cubs are doing the same so it will be the whole group together on Thursday!)

Marches

By George! it's that time of year again - one of the two occasions when I expect the scouts to put scouting ahead of their other committments. We will meet in Oswestry, on the border, to march in celebration of our national saint, wave our banners, and alone of the county scouts, march behind our drums and bugles and standards, and show the other troops that we are indeed the best!!! Hurrah!!!
Meet at the West side of the Central Car park beside Smithfield Road, at 2.00 pm for march off at 2.30 pm. We will march to the church service and expect to be out and finished by 4:00 pm. This is the one occasion when the whole of Shropshire Borders scout movement meet together so please will you all attend!
PS No Scouts this week - we start again next week!
Meanwhile, our team for the national archery competition meet for practice on Saturday at Bowbrook archery field and I also need to get commitments for BSIAC France 2009 ('Boreatton Scouts Invade and Conquer France 2009' of course!) I reckon with a bit of fundraising we can do it for £150 a head... Let me know who's up for it!!!

Gilwell and HMS Belfast
Phew! didn't lose any on the tubes!
We had a great time down in London with Bayston Hill - thanks for coming along guys!
Here's some pics of the 'camp' with us at Gilwell, shopping (our favorate activity) and mucking about, travelling the tube (most adventurous activity? a bit of a squash at times!) Then a few pics around the HMS Belfast, the education session, and in and about the museums. ...and finally heading home. I've set it to the 'Warship March', and put proper versions of all the pics in my public photo albums, so follow the link and have a browse ...
Finally, well done everyone - you all behaved brilliantly almost all the time which is how it should be!

Pioneering
I held a quick camp in Bickley Coppice to get a couple of the older scouts to do their Outdoor Plus Challenge badge (well done to them!) and also get my greenfield camp permit in time for planning the France camp if we get enough scouts that want to go (well done me!)

Hitting the end
It's the end of term- Hurrah! Have a good hol everyone! I'll be seeing most of you for our Belfast trip soon, and chasing quite a lot of you for forms...

Meanwhile, a big thank you to Richard and Simon from the local Karate club for coming and giving us a taster of their sport and a short training session including self defence tips - everyone had a good time hitting each other (so nothing new!) but with more control than usual! Here's some pics of our last meeting...

Richard is better at discipline than me but I dont think I can adopt his approach...
Although some of the scouts seem keen to give it a go!
Scary scouts!

business as normal

Tonight we meet at the usual time at the scout hut - same time, same place, just a different day. wear trainers and comfy clothes to get thrown around in! We cannot get a hall before 8:20 but then it usually takes until then before you settle down and we start so I thought that would be fine, but it means we may finish a bit late...
Sorry its a bit late notice but Phil couldn't operate the blog and I was away the last couple of days...
See you soon
